About Stories Remembered

Why I Started This Work

Kathy Dailey

Why I Started Stories Remembered

Hi, I'm Kathy Dailey, founder of Stories Remembered.

My love for storytelling began with my own family. I created life story books for my mother and my mother-in-law—gathering their memories through interviews, weaving in photos, and preserving stories that might otherwise have been lost. Watching their joy as they held their finished books made something very clear to me: this work matters.

I've always been passionate about genealogy, family history, and meaningful connection. But more than dates and facts, I believe in preserving the heart of a life—the stories, lessons, humor, challenges, and love that define us.

Stories Remembered was created to make this process easy, comfortable, and deeply meaningful. You don't need to be a writer. You just need a story—and everyone has one worth telling.

Mission Statement

My mission is simple: To help people get their stories in the hands of as many loved ones as possible so their stories will live on for many generations to come.

Services & Pricing

Four Ways to Preserve a Life Story

Every family comes to this with a different budget, timeline, and sense of urgency. That's why Stories Remembered offers four ways to work together—depending on what matters most to you. Every project starts with the same thing: guided interviews with your loved one.

Tier 1

Story Capture

Preserve the voice, before it's gone.

$500 – $2,000
  • Guided interview sessions with your loved one (5, 10, or 20 hours of interview time)
  • Full audio recordings, delivered digitally
  • Lightly cleaned transcript of each session—filler words and false starts removed for easy reading (not proofread for full accuracy)
Best for

Families who mainly want their loved one's stories and voice captured now, without committing to a written book yet. Ideal when time is short or budget is tight.

Interviews can begin within 1–2 weeks; delivery within days of the final session.

Tier 2

Story Draft

A story you can actually sit down and read.

$900 – $3,500
  • Everything in Story Capture
  • A written narrative crafted from the interviews—organized, readable chapters or a chronological summary
  • One round of client review and revision
  • Delivered as a Word or PDF document (not designed or printed)
Best for

Families who want the story to read like a story—not just a transcript—but don't need photos, design, or a printed book right now. Easy to upgrade to a printed book later using the same interviews.

6–10 weeks after final interview.

Tier 3

Story-Only Book

A keepsake, without the photo project.

$1,400 – $4,000
  • Everything in Story Draft
  • Professional layout and basic design (text-forward, minimal photos)
  • Printed, bound softcover book
  • Digital PDF for easy sharing with family
Best for

Families who want a real printed heirloom book but don't want to take on the work of gathering, scanning, and organizing a large photo collection.

2–3 months after final interview.

Tier 4

Full Photo Memoir

The complete heirloom experience.

$1,550 – $7,400
  • Everything in Story-Only Book
  • Full photo collection, curation, and processing
  • Custom-designed layout
  • Hardcover, museum-quality printed book
Best for

Families who want the full heirloom experience—a beautifully designed book with photos woven throughout the story, built to last generations.

4–6+ months, depending on length and photo count.

What makes Stories Remembered different from other story/memoir writing services?
At Stories Remembered, the heart of what we do is the interview process itself. These aren't simple question-and-answer sessions—they're thoughtful, two-way conversations designed to gently draw out memories that might otherwise remain hidden. I take the time to listen deeply, ask follow-up questions, and create a comfortable space where stories naturally emerge.

Your book isn't a list of answers to standard questions. Instead, your words are woven into a cohesive narrative written in your own authentic voice—the way you actually speak and tell stories. Every book is completely customized to reflect your unique journey, personality, and the memories that matter most to you.

Beyond preserving your story, these conversations often become meaningful experiences in themselves—offering companionship, reflection, and the joy of being truly heard. It's a personal, human process from start to finish.
